Dr.
Jean Hewitt, Director
Jean Hewitt has been a teacher and
school leader in Canada and England for over forty years. Her
post-graduate work was completed at the University of Toronto and Wayne
State University in Michigan. Her undergraduate work was completed in
England and Canada.
During her teaching career, Jean has
worked with students at every level and has done extensive work in
Special Education. She held a variety of administrative positions,
including Vice-Principal, Principal and Superintendent of Schools. She
served as a Senior Project Officer with the Ontario Ministry of
Education.
Jean is the author of numerous articles
and teacher video packs. Her books,
Playing Fair: A Guide to
the Management of Student Conduct (1992),
Teaching
Teenagers: Making Connections in the Transition Years (1994), re-printed 2001) and
Developing Literacy Books I, II and III, are in wide
use in teacher certification programs. Jean has produced numerous teacher training video packs.
For the past five years, Jean has been Diagnostician for the Ministry Early Literacy Initiative. She has worked across Ontario with the Schools That Need Extra Help Program and the Turnaround Schools Program. In 2005, she became an advisor to the Ottawa-Carleton CODE Literacy Project. Jean has also conducted a number of School Board Reviews of Special Education with Gerry Clarke of Ottawa (2003-2006)
Jean is in demand as a keynote speaker
and workshop leader across North America and in Europe. She has won
numerous awards for her achievements in Education and appears in the
Canadian
Who's Who.
